Top 7 Reasons Why Network & Affiliate Marketers Don’t Succeed
The stats aren’t pretty.
Of over 7,000 network marketers who’ve responded to the Network Marketing Industry Survey only 4.4% make $100,000 or more a year.
And 70.4% make under $5,000 per year.
But why?
And what can you do to change your results?
It starts by understanding the biggest reasons why people aren’t successful.
Read on and you can watch the video here.
Here’s The List Of The Top Reasons Why Network & Affiliate Marketers Fail.
#1 – Lack of a System to Bring in Leads

The number one thing networkers and affiliate marketers say is their biggest problem is finding prospects.
The fact is that there are literally billions of prospects on social media. So, it’s really not a question of where to find prospects. They’re everywhere.
It’s a question of having an efficient and effective system to connect with prospects.
I see a lot of people using a shot gun approach to prospecting, which is just trying to message anyone and everyone they possibly can on social media. Not only is this tedious, but it’s usually highly ineffective and it’s fraught with rejection.
That’s why you also need a system that will automatically sift and sort the tire kickers and time wasters and only bring you the most highly qualified prospects who are ready to buy and join your team.
I’ve created two highly effective sifting and sorting lead generating systems.
One is for LinkedIn, the 60 Minute Power Recruiting Program. You can grab a copy of that here.
The other is my YouTube Profit Generating Secrets Program. You can get all the info on that here.
#2 – Lack of Consistency
I can absolutely guarantee that both my LinkedIn and my YouTube lead generating systems work. And they work like a charm at bringing in the most highly qualified leads. In fact, 100% of people who have implemented either of these two systems will tell you that that work.
So, what’s the problem?
The single biggest challenge is lack of consistency at implementing any system.
All social media platforms have algorithms and consistency is the key to gaining traction with any of the algorithms.
Unfortunately, way too many people are poking at their businesses, rather than treating their business like a job (heaven forbid I say that word) that you go to at least 5 days a week.
#3 – Lack of Patience
There’s no such thing as overnight success. And growing a base of qualified prospects to form a foundation for an amazing business is no different.
Unfortunately, what I see taking people out of the game, even those that have been consistent for some amount of time, is a lack of patience.

My experience was that it took eleven months of rock solid 7 days a week consistency, with almost nothing to show for it, before I started to see results.
After months of posting to social media platforms everyday, doing live video everyday, emailing my email list (even when I only had 50 people on it) everyday, and I’m talking about 7 days a week, not just 5…
Only after months of committed work did I start to make money. And in that 11th month I was ecstatic when I made $3500.
The following month that number increased by tenfold, and it’s gone on consistently from there.
In working with thousands of people, I see that over 95% of people give up when they haven’t started making thousands of dollars in the first couple of months.
#4 – Lack of Skills at Closing the Sale
Let’s say you’ve implemented an effective lead generating system and you’ve been consistent over ten months or more and you’re still not getting anywhere.
Statics show that only 4% of salespeople in the US sell.
YES!!! Only 4% of people that are trying to sell something actually are closing sales.
I know you were probably told when you joined your network marketing business…
“It’s not selling, it’s just sharing.”
That my friends, is the biggest load of crap I’ve ever heard.
If you know how to find prospects, and you’re doing it consistently, and you’re not getting new customers and team members, you need to improve your sales skills. PERIOD.
Selling is about learning how to have a powerful closing conversation.
A great introductory program I highly recommend, and one I’ve learned tons from, is Magic Conversations that Close Rejection-FREE, by my good friend and colleague, Debbie Morton.
#5 – Lack of Confidence/Fear of Failure

Success requires a building of confidence. At least enough confidence to be willing to get out of your comfort zone.
You’re not likely to start anything new with all the confidence in the world. You grow confidence day-by-day, moment-by-moment.
As David Cameron Gikandi says in his book, Happy Pocketful of Money…
“Most people have been programmed to fear failure. They give up to avoid failure, or they do not even attempt just so that they will not fail.”
#6 - Lack of Vision
You can work away at a system to generate leads. You can be consistent over an extended period of time. You can take a bunch of courses and improve your closing skills, you can be patient. You can work on your mindset and your confidence, and STILL not be where you want to be.
But why?
It may seem simple and obvious, but the truth is, if you don’t have a crystal-clear vision of where you want to go, it’s impossible to get there.
When I say a crystal-clear vision, I mean you know exactly what you want to create in your life. You have a written down list of things you desire to have, do and be.
Your list should include little things like a new pillow, a waffle iron, a new cell phone, to things like a hot tub, a trip to Hawaii, a new car, your dream home, or paying for your child’s or grandchild’s college education.
Include things you want to experience like taking piano lessons, learning a new language, learning how to fly, shooting consistently in the 80’s in your golf game, or being a certain weight and being strong, fit, and flexible.
You can include the amount of money you want to make, but that is never enough. No one wants a million dollars. You want what a million dollars will give you.
Your vision for your life needs to be powered by emotion. Spend time “imagineering” as Walt Disney said, your trip to Hawaii. Close your eyes and visualize your trip. Five-sensorize your trip. What will you see, hear, taste, touch and smell?
So few people spend time “imagineering” the life they want to live.
This is an equation to live by:
I x V = R
Imagination x Vividness = Reality
#7 - Lack of Purpose
“Your gifts lie in the place where your values, passions, and strengths meet. Discovering that place is the first step toward sculpting your masterpiece, your life.” – MICHELANGELO
Have you clearly identified your values, passions, and purpose?
In a recent article I read about finding purpose in your life, Moreno Zugaro said…
“Nothing is more deadening than grinding gears on a life without purpose.”
He went on to say…

“When you stop focusing on your gain, it will come back and wash over you in ways you couldn’t imagine.
When I obsessed about the money I made from writing, my articles sucked and revenue dried up like a puddle in the Atacama desert.
But when I instead focused on providing value, the numbers went through the roof.
When I obsessed about getting more clients, people avoided me like the plague.
But when I focused on serving others and helping them out, people got desperate to work with me.”
In my opinion, people fail to succeed in their businesses because they have no sense of purpose that feeds their soul and gives them a sense of fulfilment, joy, peace, and satisfaction.
Just this week I had an experience on a group call where someone was sharing something that absolutely made my heart sing. As a result of the work we’ve been doing in this group, this person was digging deep in their soul, and they were “getting it”. Shift was happening. That made everything totally worth it to me. I knew I was fulfilling my purpose…
To inspire, motivate and teach, thereby empower tens of thousands to discover and create a life and a business they love living in every way.
That’s my mission statement. What’s yours?
Celebrating Your Success!
