It’s important to understand that most things start off as a skill you start to learn.
You’re not good at it at first. It takes practice, being willing to flop, fail and fall flat on your face. And then pick yourself up and do it again.
You practice, practice, practice until you’re actually good at it. And before you know it, you’re using this skill consistently. Now it’s a “habit”.
Here’s the definition of “habit”: a settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up
And that’s the key.
You develop skills.
Turn skills into habits.
And make your habits REALLY hard to give up!
Habit & Skill #1 - Understanding and Managing Energy
Watch the leaders. They’re not moaning, groaning and complaining. They’re not moping around.
They’re not victims. They take control of their lives and the results in them.
They understand how to manage their energy.
They’re aware of how they’re feeling. They consciously focus thought on what they want to create. Not on what they don’t want to create.
I have a daily energy practice that takes me usually less than a minute. I do it EVERY morning before I get out of bed. Seven days a week, 365 days a year. This is so ingrained in me now that it’s a habit.
And it’s a 3-step habit I have absolutely no desire to give up!
STEP 1: I start by getting into the energy of being happy, thankful and grateful and really feeling it.
STEP 2: I then move on to knowing and feeling that “all of life comes to me with ease, joy and glory”.
STEP 3: I decide… yes, I make a decision, that today is the best day of my life. I don’t compare today to any other day. It’s just today.
I also love my regular yoga and meditation practices that keep me feeling great.
Habit & Skill #2 - Lead & Prospect Generating System – Funnel Freaks
In today’s world top leaders have lead and prospect generating systems. These systems are bringing them in a daily stream of new prospects.
You probably know that I’m all about using LinkedIn to generate super high-quality leads organically… for free.
And that’s what I show all of my clients how to do. It’s insanely simple. If you can copy & paste you can do it.

Whether you’re using LinkedIn, Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, or whatever to generate leads…
Highly successful network marketers are usually “Funnel Freaks”.
They’re using automation.
They create, landing pages, or opt-in pages. They’re building their own email prospect lists. They’re collecting phone numbers. And they’re selling to their prospects through automation and funnels with sales pages and up-sell pages.
Habit & Skill #3 - Finely Tuned Closing Skills
So you’ve got leads and prospects rolling in and people booking on your calendar. Now what?
Let’s face it, social media can be great for generating new leads and prospects.
I’m an addicted funnel freak. I LOVE automation whenever it makes sense to use it.
I’m a marketer and I want to leverage my time and money as much as possible. So, I want to speak one-to-many whenever I can.
And when you’re recruiting, growing your team, or selling a high-end program, there are times that require a one-on-one conversation.
The highly successful network marketer has finely tuned closing skills.
Most people aren’t just naturals at closing the sale. The vast majority of great sales people, great closers, have studied, practiced and learned skills that have enabled them to reach the leave of success they have.
Sure, they look like naturals. And what I’ve found is the more you practice and master a skill the more “natural” it becomes.
Habit & Skill #4 - Prolific Content Creation
Let’s say you’ve got some leads and prospects coming in.
You’re closing some sales and bringing some business builders onto your team.
Now you want more people to see you and find you.
Top earners and leaders today are prolific content creators.
- They’re showing “how to’s” in videos.
- They’re providing tips in emails, articles and blogs.
- They’re creating tools, maybe in the form of an ebook, guide or course, for their prospects.
- They’re sharing ideas in podcasts
- They’re providing free training in webinars
- They’re keeping you abreast of the latest changes and trends
- They’re sharing what’s working and what’s not
They’re providing value in the form of content. They’re positioning themselves as a trusted authority. And they’re building their awareness and their brand. Which of course brings more prospects to them.
Habit & Skill #5 - Social Media “Mastery” & Platform Proliferation
Now you’ve started creating some regular content.
Let’s say you’re doing live videos on Facebook once or twice a week and you’re doing some posts on LinkedIn.
It’s time to up your game… Re-purpose, Re-produce, Re-post.
Use any and all content you have and re-purpose it.
- Take video and turn it into an email, an article and a blog post.
- Take an email and turn it into a video, and copy it into an article on LinkedIn.
If you’ve created a post on LinkedIn, why not re-produce it on Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram.
If you’ve done a video on Facebook, upload it to YouTube, LinkedIn and Pinterest. Use the content as a story on Instagram.
And don’t hesitate to re-post by recycling your content.
No matter what you do 100 % of your friends, connections and followers will not see your content. So re-post it a week, or a month later.
If you want to create a bigger following to build a bigger business you need to use multiple platforms.
You need to reach your prospects where they are on different platforms.
The easiest and best way to do this is to re-purpose, re-produce, and re-post your content on a variety of platforms.
I always recommend starting with one platform. For me… I hope I don’t have to say it, but it’s LinkedIn.
Build your skills on one platform.
Turn your skills into habits.
Then add on platforms.
Habit & Skill #6 - Delivery Diversification
The highly successful and savvy network marketer understands that just like you need to have “platform proliferation” because some people are on Facebook and never touch Instagram, while others LOVE LinkedIn and don’t want to spend a second on Facebook…
You also need delivery diversification.
The secret to becoming highly successful is developing a massive following of raving fans.
And to do this, you need to reach people, and communicate with them in the way they want to be reached and communicated with.
Some of your prospects are readers, some are listeners, and some are watchers and doers.
Audio. Visual. Kinesthetic.
Allow your prospects to connect with you in their preferred method.
- podcasts – audio
- emails, articles, blogs – visual
- video – kinesthetic
Also be absolutely certain you’re diversified in your delivery.
Some of your audience will open emails and respond. Some rarely will.
Some of your audience will read messages on Facebook or LinkedIn and respond. Some rarely will.
Some of your audience will read text or whatsapp messages. Some rarely will.
You need to deliver your message in a variety of different ways. Never rely on just one delivery vehicle.
Habit & Skill #7 – CONSISTENCY
Each of the previous six skills and habits won’t do anything for you, if you’re not implementing them consistently.
If fact, you don’t have a habit if it’s not consistent.
